DECEPTION ISLAND - Navigating a narrow channel known as 'Neptune's Bellows', we sail into the very crater of the volcano known as Deception Island. A ring of snow-covered hills forms the rim of the crater, and multicoloured volcanic rock forms sheer cliffs where Cape pigeons, storm petrels and Antarctic fulmars nest. Here you may also see the penguin rookery. |
