Tromso

Located on the forest-covered island of Troms, TROMSO is considered the most important port in Norway's Arctic region. Despite being far north of the Arctic Circle, Tromso has a surprising amount of vegetation due to the North Atlantic Gulf Stream, which provides the area with a warmer climate than one would expect. Possible excursions include a 'city highlights' tour with a cable car ride to the top of Mount Storsteinen, from where you will enjoy a spectacularview of the island and surrounding area. Roald Amundsen used Tromso as the starting point for his famous expeditions to the far north and the city became known as the 'Gateway to the Arctic'.
