The stony shores of crescent-shaped HALF MOON ISLAND loom into view as thousands of raucous chinstrap penguins seem to herald our approach. A short hike ashore will reveal vistas of cascading glaciers and spectacular mountain peaks, while Antarctic terns, giant petrels and skuas gather overhead.
